Milan Type 1 ABL 1980,own work 1/16
MILAN, French acronym for Missile d'Infanterie Léger ANtichar, is the second generation of a French-German teleguided anti-tank missile.
Its development began in 1962. In 1971 the rocket was ready for the first tests. In 1972 it was approved for service. The missile is guided with SACLOS (Semi-Automatic Command to Line-Of-Sight), which means that the launcher must be pointed at the target.
MILAN can also be equipped with MIRA night vision to be able to fire in the dark. MILAN is produced under license in the United Kingdom, Spain and India.
